Are you passionate about making a positive impact on young lives? Dunbar Education Recruitment Company is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team and support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning, enabling them to achieve their full potential.

Position: Behaviour Support Assistant

Location: Bedford

Type: Full-Time (No Part-Time Positions Available)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with all learning opportunities as directed by the class teacher.
  • Assist in maintaining positive behaviours of pupils.
  • Help teachers support the needs of children requiring assistance in overcoming learning barriers to reach their full potential in all developmental areas.
  • Deliver prepared work to small groups of pupils or provide one-to-one support, under direct or indirect supervision.
  • Ensure safe supervision of pupils at all times, including during play/break times, transport, etc.
  • Access relevant training, in addition to induction, to develop classroom skills.
  • Undertake whole school duties as directed by class teachers or SLT.
  • Work with individual pupils and groups to support learning and promote access to learning activities.
  • Implement behaviour support plans with pupils, as directed.
  • Implement communication programs with pupils, as directed.
  • Support students in developing resilience, independence, and emotional regulation, both in lessons and in forming positive relationships with peers and staff.
  • Support the personal and social aspects of teaching, such as assisting pupils with eating programs and toilet training.
  • Contribute to the physical education of pupils, including swimming and PE.
  • Record pupil progress as directed by the class teacher and in line with school policy.
  • Assist in creating educational resources, including classroom and whole school displays.
  • Accompany pupils on educational visits and journeys, including sports events and community access.

About the School: This role is based in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school, where pupils have severe and complex learning difficulties as well as significant health and care needs. The ideal candidate will have the experience and compassion necessary to support these students in a nurturing and structured environment.

Requirements:

  • Must have DBS on the update service.
  • Must have experience with challenging behaviour.
