The Role: As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing one-on-one or group support to students who face behavioural challenges within the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with identified students to understand their behavioural needs and triggers, offering appropriate interventions and strategies.
  • Assisting class teachers in creating individualized behaviour plans to support the emotional and academic development of students.
  • Implementing behaviour management techniques to create a positive and safe learning environment for all students.
  • Providing support during times of emotional distress, helping students manage their emotions and build essential coping skills.
  • Collaborating with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure a consistent approach to supporting students with behavioural difficulties.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is advantageous, but a strong passion for behaviour management and student welfare is essential.
  • A deep understanding of behaviour management techniques and the ability to tailor strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and create a nurturing learning environment.
  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in behaviour management or related fields are beneficial.
