We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a primary school in Northampton. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who need additional support with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, helping them build confidence, develop coping strategies, and achieve their full potential.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with behavioural and emotional needs
- Implementing tailored behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress
- Supporting de-escalation and safe intervention techniques when necessary
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
- Promoting an inclusive, respectful, and calm classroom environment
What We're Looking For:
- Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or in a pastoral role
- A calm, empathetic, and patient approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence in managing behaviour and de-escalating situations
- Team Teach training is highly desirable or willingness to complete the training
- Relevant qualifications in education, child development, or mental health are an advantage
