Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated BSL (British Sign Language) Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a BSL Specialist TA, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with hearing impairments in secondary schools across Milton Keynes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, providing tailored support in their learning journey.
- Assist in creating an inclusive classroom environment, ensuring that students have equal access to educational opportunities.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
- Offer BSL interpretation and communication support as needed.
- Help students develop their communication and language skills.
- Provide emotional and social support to students, fostering a supportive and caring learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Relevant experience as a Teaching Assistant, with a focus on supporting students with hearing impairments.
- Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) - BSL Level 2 or above is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
