Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Cover Supervisor to join our team at a prestigious Secondary School in Bedford. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of education by overseeing classes in the absence of regular teachers. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a minimum of 6 months of UK education experience who are passionate about supporting the learning and development of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and manage classroom activities in the absence of the regular teacher.
  2. Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure students remain on task and engaged in learning.
  3. Manage student behavior effectively, maintaining a positive and respectful learning environment.
  4. Provide support to students in their learning, offering assistance with tasks and answering questions where possible.
  5. Follow school policies and procedures, including those related to safeguarding and health and safety.
  6. Communicate effectively with teaching staff, providing feedback on student progress and any issues that arise during lessons.
  7. Assist with administrative tasks as required, such as taking registers and reporting on student attendance.
  8. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 6 months of education experience in a UK setting.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  3. Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain discipline and create a positive learning environment.
  4. Flexibility and adaptability to work across different subject areas and year groups.
  5. A genuine passion for education and a commitment to supporting the learning and development of young people.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to the wider school community.
  7. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) and other relevant safeguarding checks.
