Teacher of English to Deaf Children, St Albans area, Full-time
We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and committed Teacher of English to Deaf Children to join a well-established and expanding team at an SEN provision in St Albans. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of deaf students while fostering their love for English language and literature.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Teach English at KS3/KS4
- Provide expert instruction tailored to the needs of deaf students
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of language development in EAL/SEN children
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Take on pastoral care responsibilities for a small group of students
- Encourage a love for English language and literature among students
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience and/or qualifications to teach deaf children
- An interest in language development and a passion for teaching English
- Some experience working with SEN students
- Knowledge of BSL at a minimum of BSL Level 3 or a commitment to work towards it
