Role Overview: As the Head of Physics, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of the Science department. You will lead a team of dedicated educators, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment where students thrive and achieve their full potential. This is an exciting opportunity to drive forward the teaching and learning of Physics within a forward-thinking academy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Physics department, ensuring alignment with the school's overall objectives.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of passionate Physics teachers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Design and deliver engaging and challenging Physics curriculum, tailored to meet the needs of students across all key stages (11-18).
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department, implementing effective strategies for improvement where necessary.
- Ensure effective assessment and tracking of student progress, using data to inform teaching practice and intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Science department and wider school community to promote cross-curricular initiatives and enrichment opportunities.
- Foster strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external stakeholders, promoting a shared commitment to student achievement and well-being.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Physics or a related field.
- Significant experience teaching Physics at secondary level, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
- Previous leadership experience within a Science department or similar educational setting, demonstrating the ability to lead and inspire colleagues (desireable).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students, staff, and parents alike.
