Home Economics Teacher (SEMH Provision)

Location: Baldock, Hertfordshire

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Home Economics Teacher to join our SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) provision based in Baldock, Hertfordshire. As a Home Economics Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing a supportive and engaging learning environment for teenagers with SEMH needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality home economics lessons that cater to the specific needs of students with SEMH.
  • Create and implement differentiated teaching strategies to ensure effective learning for all students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting emotional well-being and positive behaviour management.
  • Utilize creative and innovative teaching methods to engage students and inspire a love for home economics.
  • Assess students' progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and develop individualized learning plans to support their academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and parents/guardians to ensure a holistic approach to students' education and well-being.
  • Keep accurate records of students' attendance, achievements, and behaviour, and maintain open communication with relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Experience in working with teenagers with SEMH, including a confident approach in supporting individuals with challenging behaviours.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of home economics curriculum and the ability to adapt lessons to suit individual needs.
  • A teaching qualification is desirable, but not essential. Candidates with relevant experience in a similar role will also be considered.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Resilience, patience, and a compassionate approach to working with students with SEMH needs.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to learn and implement new strategies and techniques.
