Dunbar Education is looking for a KS3 English Teacher to join a specialised SEN school, working with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges.
Teaching and Managing Student Learning: As an English Teacher, you will:
- Effectively teach English across all age groups and abilities within KS3.
- Set high expectations for student achievement and behaviour.
- Actively participate in the creation, consistent application, and enhancement of schemes of work that reflect key school learning strategies.
- Monitor student progress, particularly those needing additional support, and challenge them to stay engaged and achieve success.
Assessment and Self-Evaluation: As an English Teacher, you will:
- Implement policies for assessing, recording, and reporting student achievement, and assist in setting targets for further improvement.
- Use data effectively to identify underachieving students and, where necessary, develop and implement effective intervention plans.
Relationship with Parents: As an English Teacher, you will:
- Build a partnership with parents, involving them in their child's learning and providing updates on targets and progress.
- Communicate effectively with parents, both verbally and in writing.
Managing Your Own Performance: As an English Teacher, you will:
- Prioritise and manage your time efficiently.
- Take responsibility for your own professional development.
- Share best practices that positively impact student learning.
- Form constructive relationships with staff, including teamwork and mutual support.
- Actively implement the school's behaviour management policies.
- Contribute to the broader school community, including English enrichment activities.
- Participate in departmental planning and development.
