Dunbar Education Recruitment Agency is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Moving & Handling Teacher Assistant to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Moving and Handling team, contributing to the planning, preparation, and delivery of a specialised support program. This role is crucial in ensuring that students can safely navigate school sites and effectively access the school curriculum, all under the supervision of the Moving and Handling Lead/SLT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver assigned programs of support for students, enabling them to safely move around school sites and access the curriculum.
- Collaborate with the Moving and Handling Lead/SLT in resolving problems related to providing learning activities.
- Contribute to the planning and development of learning activities with teachers, including the planning, organising, and development of individual education plans.
- Communicate effectively with individuals, groups, and whole classes of pupils to promote learning, adapting approaches as necessary.
- Work closely with teachers to plan and evaluate learning activities, exchanging information with other staff, parents/carers.
- Ensure knowledge and compliance with policies and procedures relevant to pupil protection, health, and safety.
- Prepare and clear up learning resources and equipment, utilizing keyboard skills when necessary.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a related field.
- Working towards or has attained professional standards for HLTA.
- Working towards or has gained a lifesaving qualification.
- Working towards or has gained a pool plant operator qualification.
- Experience in supporting and leading learning activities in a specialist area.
- Strong problem-solving skills related to providing learning activities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to assess the impact of communication on recipients and adjust approach as necessary.
- Familiarity with DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
