Occupational Therapist

Job Description

Dunbar Education is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist at an Outstanding Special School in Buckinghamshire. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to establish and develop an occupational therapy service that meets the needs of pupils across the academy. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing an occupational therapy service to meet the needs of pupils with ASC and SEMH
  • Collaborating with other professionals, including teachers, teaching assistants, and parents/carers, to provide a holistic, integrated approach to support pupils
  • Developing a continuing professional development program for the school staff in line with the school's development plan, delivering training as appropriate
  • Developing an integrated approach to embedding therapeutic strategies across the curriculum that provides support for students with sensory processing difficulties, self-care and life skills, fine motor skills, gross motor and coordination skills, visual perception skills, and more
  • Delivering a range of targeted and specialist interventions to meet specific functional needs within the environment
  • Conducting assessments and creating personalized therapy plans for pupils with a range of needs
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of therapy interventions and making recommendations for future interventions
  • Contributing to the development of individual education plans (IEPs) and education, health, and care plans (EHCPs)
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of therapy interventions and pupil progress

Key Requirements:

  • A recognized Occupational Therapy qualification
  • HCPC or RCOT registration
  • Experience working with children or adults with ASC and SEMH
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

This is a term-time only, permanent position for a Band 5 - 7 qualified Occupational Therapist with a wonderful school offering ongoing training and development opportunities. Full-time and part-time can be considered.
