PMLD Support Assistant

Dunbar Education is working in partnership with a reputable SEN school located in Bedfordshire, specializing in providing quality education and support to students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join their team as PMLD Support Assistants.

As a PMLD Support Assistant, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the educational and personal development of students with PMLD. Working closely with a team of experienced teachers and therapists, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individualized support to students with PMLD, both inside and outside the classroom setting.
  • Assisting with personal care tasks such as feeding, toileting, and maintaining hygiene, ensuring the specific needs of each student are met.
  • Supporting students with sensory integration, communication, and mobility requirements.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to implement personalized education and therapy programs.
  • Recording and monitoring student progress, behavior, and accomplishments.
  • Participating in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills in PMLD support.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with individuals with PMLD or severe learning disabilities is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for working with students with special needs, coupled with a compassionate and patient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Understanding of and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Willingness to undergo relevant background checks and provide references.
