We seek a dedicated and passionate PMLD Teaching Assistant to join our specialised school in Stevenage. As a Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to profoundly impact the lives of our students aged 3 - 19 years old, who have complex needs. This is a full-time position, as working with SEN students requires a consistent and committed presence.
Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional support and assistance to students with PMLD, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and maximise their potential
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the well-being and personal development of each student
- Demonstrate outstanding practice in working with young people who have complex needs, utilizing your expertise to address individual requirements effectively
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with students, irrespective of their needs or backgrounds, ensuring their safety and emotional well-being at all times
- Collaborate with the teaching staff and other professionals to create and implement personalised education plans for students, following the school's curriculum and guidelines
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and reporting any concerns to the appropriate individuals
- Assist with personal care needs, mobility, and any specialised equipment required by the students
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with individuals with SEN, particularly those with PMLD, is essential
- Excellent understanding of the challenges faced by students with complex needs and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment
- Commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the school community
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, staff and external professionals
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the students and the school
- Relevant qualifications and training in special education or related fields would be advantageous
