Experienced PMLD Teaching Assistant WANTED!

£86 - £95 per day

We seek a dedicated and passionate PMLD Teaching Assistant to join our specialised school in Stevenage. As a Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to profoundly impact the lives of our students aged 3 - 19 years old, who have complex needs. This is a full-time position, as working with SEN students requires a consistent and committed presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional support and assistance to students with PMLD, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and maximise their potential
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the well-being and personal development of each student
  • Demonstrate outstanding practice in working with young people who have complex needs, utilizing your expertise to address individual requirements effectively
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with students, irrespective of their needs or backgrounds, ensuring their safety and emotional well-being at all times
  • Collaborate with the teaching staff and other professionals to create and implement personalised education plans for students, following the school's curriculum and guidelines
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and reporting any concerns to the appropriate individuals
  • Assist with personal care needs, mobility, and any specialised equipment required by the students

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with SEN, particularly those with PMLD, is essential
  • Excellent understanding of the challenges faced by students with complex needs and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the school community
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, staff and external professionals
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the students and the school
  • Relevant qualifications and training in special education or related fields would be advantageous
