Primary SEN Assistant

Are you an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with a strong commitment to supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Responsibilities:

  • Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant, with a preference for prior involvement in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) environments.
  • A sincere enthusiasm for working with children who have special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A patient and empathetic method when providing support to students.
  • Capability to adjust to various learning styles and individual requirements.
  • A resolute dedication to advancing inclusivity and equality in the field of education.
  • While beneficial, relevant qualifications and training (e.g., Teaching Assistant certification, proficiency in Makaton, experience with Team Teach) are not obligatory.

Requirements:

  • Offering individualized or small-group assistance to students who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Supporting the classroom Teacher in delivering customized lessons and activities.
  • Modifying educational materials to cater to the specific requirements of individual students.
  • Observing and recording student advancement, then communicating findings to the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Applying strategies for behaviour management and fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Working well with the broader school staff, parents, and external specialists to ensure the best outcomes for students with SEND.
