School Premises and Maintenance Coordinator

Job Description

  1. POSITION OBJECTIVE

The primary objective of this role is to ensure a clean and secure environment within the school buildings and grounds. Responsibilities include general maintenance and repairs, upkeep of garden areas, assistance with pupil transportation, and support for evening lettings and events.

  1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily tasks encompass maintaining premises security, monitoring facility hirers, setting up spaces for events, driving school minibuses, replenishing washroom supplies, general cleaning, portering duties, and managing garden and outdoor spaces. The role also involves basic handyperson tasks, operation of light machinery, and adherence to health and safety protocols.

  1. REPORTING STRUCTURE

This position reports directly to the Site Manager and collaborates closely with the Premises Team. Supervision includes overseeing visitors, building surveyors, caretaking, cleaning, and maintenance staff.

  1. WORK SCHEDULE

The standard working hours are from 06:30 to 14:30 or 14:00 to 22:00, Monday to Friday, with a half-hour break on-site. Additionally, alternate weekend shifts (8:00 to 18:00) and alarm call-out duties, which come with additional pay, may be required.

  1. QUALIFICATIONS

Desirable qualifications include experience in a school or similar environment, flexibility, and sensitivity to diverse user needs. Essential requirements include awareness of health and safety legislation, practical DIY skills, a clean driving license, and a willingness to undergo necessary training.
