Start Date: September

The school are seeking to appoint a teacher of science to join their experienced science faculty. This would suit an experienced teacher (QTS) or an early career teacher (ECT).

You will be joining a supportive team who are committed to ensuring the best outcomes for their students. The science team enjoys the use of specialist facilities including nine fully equipped laboratories and preparation room with full time technicians to support teachers with lesson preparation and practical lessons.

The science curriculum has been designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the scientific knowledge and ideas that impact them as individuals within a local and globalised context. As they move through the curriculum, students will be increasingly made to develop their curiosity, provide insight into working scientifically and appreciate the value of science in their everyday lives. Their curriculum provides a platform for students to develop critical thinking skills which will prepare them for further education or careers in science. It also delivers a framework for understanding the natural world and supporting students to become scientifically literate participants in society.

Knowledge and Understanding

  • Have a detailed knowledge of the relevant aspects of the students' National Curriculum and other statutory requirements at a standard equivalent to degree level to enable you to teach confidently and accurately at KS3, KS4 and Post-16
  • Have a secure knowledge and understanding of your specialist subject, including level descriptors and KS 4 and Post-16 examination specifications and courses
  • Understand progression across Key Stages in your specialist subject
  • Cope securely with subject-related questions which students raise and know about students' common misconceptions and mistakes in their specialist subject.
