Job Summary:

As an English Teacher in our client school, you will inspire and motivate students in Years 7 through 11, guiding them through the complexities of the English language and literature. You will plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that cater to a wide range of abilities, ensuring that every student achieves their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with national curriculum guidelines.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction.
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance and development.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on students' work.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by school laws, district policies, and school regulations.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources, and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.

Essential Requirements:

  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, BEd) relevant to teaching English.
  • Minimum of 6 months teaching experience within the UK education system.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for English.
  • Outstanding classroom management skills.
  • A genuine passion for teaching English and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and engage with parents/guardians.
  • Enhanced DBS check or willingness to undergo checks.

Desirable:

  • Experience in preparing students for GCSE examinations.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development or additional qualifications in education.
