Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Hertford
Hours: Full-time or flexible hours (for the right candidate)
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months experience in SEN environments, with a focus on supporting students with SEMH needs.
- Passion: A genuine passion for working in an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) setting, where you'll play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students facing various challenges.
- Preferred Experience: Primary school experience would be a plus.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building strong relationships with both students and colleagues, particularly in managing challenging behavior.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to students with SEMH needs, assisting them in overcoming obstacles and achieving their full potential.
- Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies to support students in managing their emotions and behaviors effectively.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, respected, and supported.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff members to ensure the holistic development and wellbeing of students with SEMH needs.
- Respond proactively to incidents of challenging behavior, using de-escalation techniques and appropriate interventions to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
