SEN Level 3 Community Support Worker

Position: Level 3 Community Support Worker Location: Milton Keynes School Type: SEN School (11-18, all genders, predominantly SEMH profiles)

Non-Negotiables

  • DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a UK SEN setting
  • Access to own vehicle
  • Full -time - between the hours of 8-4 pm, with contact hours being between 9-3.

Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs in managing their behaviour and emotions within the classroom and school environment
  • Organise and lead school visits and other activities outside of the classroom to provide holistic support and enrichment opportunities
  • Implement activities as planned by teachers, adapting them to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH profiles
  • Manage deadlines such as marking papers and other administrative tasks while ensuring the emotional well-being of students remains a priority
  • Navigate changes and interruptions in work, including unplanned absences of staff and students, unexpected visits by parents and professionals, and supervisory duties with professionalism and empathy
  • Engage in sustained periods of physical activity, including bending, crouching, lifting, walking, and running during PE lessons, meeting students' personal care needs, and following approved procedures for physical interventions
  • Facilitate outdoor learning, lunchtimes, break times, and off-site educational activities in various weather conditions to foster social and emotional development.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and under supervision.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN.
