Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an SEN Support in our SEN (Special Educational Needs) School. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing support to students with special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential and ensuring their overall well-being. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children with diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
  • Adapt and modify classroom materials to meet the specific needs of students.
  • Support students in developing their academic, social, and emotional skills.
  • Help students with personal care tasks, if required.
  • Monitor and track student progress, documenting observations and providing feedback to the teacher.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote a positive and respectful atmosphere among students, encouraging their independence and confidence.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting students with SEN.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably in an SEN school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various special educational needs, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, etc.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students.
  • A relevant qualification in special educational needs is desirable but not essential.
