Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

Are you a dedicated and compassionate individual looking to make a positive impact on the lives of students with special educational needs? We are currently seeking a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our team in Bedfordshire.

Roles and Responsibilities:

As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a crucial role in providing assistance and support to students with special educational requirements, addressing both their academic and emotional needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating closely with the classroom teacher to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide personalized support through one-on-one or small group sessions.
  • Adapting educational materials and activities to meet the diverse abilities of students with varying needs.
  • Assisting with students' personal care needs as required.
  • Implementing positive behavior management techniques and fostering an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Coordinating efforts with other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and counselors, to promote the holistic development of students.
  • Observing and documenting students' progress while maintaining effective communication with parents, guardians, and the wider school team.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in supporting individuals with special educational needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and compassionate demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate changing student needs.
  • A commitment to advancing inclusion and equality in an educational context.
  • Relevant certifications or training in special education or related fields.
