SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted rated good primary school. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of pupils with special educational needs and contribute to their overall development.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and are able to fully participate in classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to implement EHCPS and adapt teaching materials to meet the unique needs of each pupil.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting a sense of belonging for all pupils.
  • Assist with the assessment of pupils' progress and contribute to the development of EHCPS.
  • Support pupils in developing essential life skills and promoting independence.
  • Effectively communicate with parents, teachers, and other professionals involved in the care and education of pupils with special educational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with pupils with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • Understanding of various special educational needs, including but not limited to Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and speech and language difficulties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational development of pupils with special needs.
