Job Description:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with SEND.
- Assisting the classroom teacher in delivering tailored lessons and activities.
- Adapting teaching materials to meet individual students' needs.
- Monitoring and tracking student progress and reporting to the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
- Implementing behavior management strategies and promoting a positive learning environment.
- Collaborating with the wider school team, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students with SEND.
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with experience in SEND.
- A genuine passion for working with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students.
- The ability to adapt to different learning styles and individual needs.
- A strong commitment to promoting inclusion and equality in education.
- Relevant qualifications and training (e.g., TA qualification, Makaton, Team Teach) are advantageous but not essential.
