Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join our team in Bedfordshire. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students who may face various challenges related to their social, emotional, and mental well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Support classroom teachers in managing student behavior and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Help students develop coping strategies and emotional regulation skills.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their self-esteem and confidence.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as counselors and special education staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior.
  • Attend training and professional development sessions as required.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is preferred.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in education or special education are advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
  • A passion for supporting students with SEMH challenges and helping them reach their full potential.
