Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Emotional Mental Health Mentor to join our team within a SEN school in Northamptonshire.

Position: Social Emotional Mental Health Mentor

Location: Northamptonshire

Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans to address students' specific needs and goals.
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions and mentoring sessions to help students develop coping strategies and enhance their emotional well-being.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting self-esteem and self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to students' well-being.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Attend regular meetings and training sessions to enhance professional knowledge and skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties is highly beneficial.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the social and emotional development of students with SEN.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • The ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • A valid and up-to-date DBS check is essential, or the willingness to obtain one prior to employment.
