We have an exciting opportunity at a fantastic, friendly primary school in Aylesbury who provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for all pupils. We understand the importance of supporting pupils with speech and language difficulties to help them thrive academically and socially. Responsibilities:

  1. Individualised Support:
    • Provide targeted support to pupils with speech and language difficulties, assisting them in developing communication skills and overcoming barriers to learning.
    • Implement speech and language therapy exercises and activities as directed by speech and language therapists or educational specialists.
  2. Classroom Assistance:
    • Support teachers in adapting lesson materials and activities to accommodate pupils with speech and language difficulties, ensuring they can fully participate in classroom learning.
  3. Small Group Intervention:
    • Facilitate small group intervention sessions focused on speech and language development, delivering tailored activities to address specific areas of need and promote progress.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate closely with speech and language therapists, teachers, and other support staff to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for pupils with speech and language difficulties.
    • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, providing updates on pupil progress and sharing strategies for supporting speech and language development at home.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant experience working with pupils with speech and language difficulties, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of speech and language development milestones and interventions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with pupils, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the communication needs of pupils.
