The Role: As a Behavior Support Teaching Assistant, your role will be pivotal in offering one-on-one or group assistance to students encountering behavioral difficulties in the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating closely with identified students to understand their behavioral needs and triggers, and implementing appropriate interventions and strategies.
- Assisting classroom teachers in developing personalized behavior plans to enhance students' emotional and academic progress.
- Implementing behavior management techniques to create a positive and safe learning environment for all students.
- Providing support during moments of emotional distress, helping students manage their emotions, and fostering essential coping skills.
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external specialists to ensure a consistent approach to supporting students with behavioral challenges.
Requirements:
- Prior experience as a Behavior Support Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is advantageous, but a deep commitment to behavior management and student well-being is essential.
- Possess a thorough understanding of behavior management techniques and the ability to tailor strategies to meet individual student needs.
- Demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and create a nurturing learning environment.
- Displaying resilience and the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
