Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the academic, social, and personal development of students, with a focus on transition and pastoral care. The role will involve:

  • Teaching and supporting students in small groups or one-to-one settings
  • Developing and implementing individualized learning plans and strategies
  • Providing emotional support and guidance to students
  • Collaborating with colleagues and parents to ensure student progress
  • Contributing to the development of school policies and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting on student progress

Responsibilities:

The Transition Teacher will be expected to undertake any duties as may be reasonably required by the Head of Campus, participate in arrangements for the appraisal of own performance and that of other staff, maintain the health and safety of self, colleagues, and students, and be familiar with and follow all school policies and guidelines. They will also play a full part in the cycle of school and self-evaluation, plan-do-review, maintain a high standard of classroom organization and presentation, demonstrate skills in teaching and learning strategies, lead and/or contribute to the planning and delivery of curriculum documents and schemes of work, impart knowledge, skills, and understanding to students following planned schemes of work, review teaching methods and programs of work regularly, support literacy, numeracy, ICT, careers, and Key Skills through curriculum areas, support the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of students, and keep abreast with current thinking and development through professional development training.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have qualified teacher status (QTS), experience working with students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, strong organizational and time management skills, knowledge of curriculum planning and delivery, experience with individualized learning plans and strategies.
