We are seeking a Behaviour Mentor Teaching Assistant to join our school community and provide essential support to students who may require assistance with behaviour management and emotional well-being.

Role: Behaviour Mentor Teaching Assistant

Location: Northamptonshire

Contract: Mornings only 8.30 am -1 pm or full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with students, both individually and in small groups, to provide behaviour support and interventions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) for students with challenging behaviours.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and emotional well-being.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support students in achieving their academic and social goals.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and parents/guardians.
  • Support students in developing their self-esteem, social skills, and emotional resilience.
  • Assist with de-escalation and crisis intervention when necessary.

Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification or experience in working with students with behavioural needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and the ability to tailor them to individual student needs.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with teaching staff and other professionals.
  • A commitment to promoting positive behaviour and emotional well-being in students.
