We are seeking a Behaviour Mentor Teaching Assistant to join our school community and provide essential support to students who may require assistance with behaviour management and emotional well-being.
Role: Behaviour Mentor Teaching Assistant
Location: Bedfordshire
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with students, both individually and in small groups, to provide behaviour support and interventions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) for students with challenging behaviours.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and emotional well-being.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support students in achieving their academic and social goals.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and parents/guardians.
- Support students in developing their self-esteem, social skills, and emotional resilience.
- Assist with de-escalation and crisis intervention when necessary.
Requirements:
- A relevant qualification or experience in working with students with behavioural needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and the ability to tailor them to individual student needs.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively with teaching staff and other professionals.
