An All-through Independent school, located in NW London

THE DEPARTMENT

The Mathematics Department, managed by the Head of Maths, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Mathematics Teacher to join the team. The department includes a second-in-department, KS5 coordinator, and ten other full and part-time Mathematics specialists. Facilities include a dedicated staff room, the Head of Department's office, and bright, spacious, well-equipped Maths classrooms with interactive whiteboards.

Students have excelled in Edexcel GCSE at the higher tier for the last few years, achieving outstanding results with over 90% obtaining grades 7 and above in 2023. The Key Stage 3 curriculum prepares students for the challenges of the GCSE course while offering numerous enrichment opportunities. A Level Mathematics is a popular choice in the Sixth Form, with Further Mathematics also offered to dedicated students.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Mathematics Teacher, you will report to the Head of Maths and will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and delivering challenging and differentiated lessons.
  • Setting homework in accordance with the school's policy.
  • Marking work in alignment with the school's marking policy.
  • Utilizing available data to tailor a suitable program of study for each student.
  • Understanding and implementing the schemes of work within the overall subject framework.
  • Keeping abreast of developments in the teaching of Mathematics.
  • Taking an active role in the Co-Curricular program.

Other Duties:

  • Fulfilling duties as required by the Head of Department.
  • Supporting and promoting the ethos, aims, and objectives.
  • Working towards and supporting the vision outlined in the School Strategic Plan.
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of pupils in adherence to the Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
  • Ensuring compliance with the health and safety policy.
  • Promoting equality of opportunity for all students and staff.
  • Maintaining high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, appearance, and conduct.
  • Engaging actively in the performance review process.
  • Undertaking other reasonable duties related to the job purpose as required.

THE PERSON

Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Personal Attributes:

  • Strong honours degree in a relevant or associated subject.
  • Passion for teaching and learning with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Collaboration skills for curriculum development.
  • Excellent classroom practice with experience teaching Maths across the secondary age range, including KS5.
  • Detailed understanding of current developments in the secondary curriculum and assessment.
  • Ability to lead learning in the classroom with a demonstrable passion for the subject.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Calm under pressure, articulate, and confident communicator.

Desirable Qualifications, Experience, and Personal Attributes:

  • Teaching qualification such as PGCE (or equivalent).
  • Ability to teach Further Maths.
  • Evidence of further professional development.
  • Knowledge and experience of utilizing technology to support learning.
  • Experience working in an independent setting
