SEMH Teaching Assistant

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. This is a long-term permanent position, offering stability and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Implement strategies to promote emotional well-being and academic progress.
- Foster positive relationships with students, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement Individual Education Plans.
- Assist in managing challenging behaviours and implementing behaviour management techniques.
- Monitor and track students' progress and provide feedback to the SENCo and teaching staff.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere where every child feels valued and supported.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs in a primary school setting is highly desirable.
- Relevant qualifications or training in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or SEMH support is an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children with SEMH needs.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
